We thought that Jacob wouldn't be playing in the tournament, but due to several rain-outs and other delays, the Reds played on Tuesday night. (They had lost the first tournament game during the revival.) Jacob was super-excited to get to play one more game. He pitched the entire game and got THREE hits! We ended up getting beat 9-7, but it was a really good game.
Jacob going to third...
On the mound...
Jacob's best hit of the year! He bolted this one to left center field for a triple!
On third base...
Next time up to bat...
Matthew excited that the game is over. I cannot get over the way that Matthew seems to have enjoyed watching Jacob play ball this year. Perhaps it's only because he thinks he will get something to eat after the game that has him cheering, but I have enjoyed it to say the least. The neatest thing is that he KNOWS when Jacob's games start. He will sit so quietly if there is a game going on prior to ours, but as soon as Jacob's team takes the field, he starts whooping and hollering. I love it!
He was really hoping to go to Cracker Barrel again! Sorry Bubba, it was too late.
In the dug-out after the game...
Everybody in for one last time...
"1, 2, 3, REDS!!!"
The tallies were in and everything was made official at the last game that Jacob was going to be playing with the All-Star team this year. He was OVER the moon excited and still can hardly believe it. Then I kinda dropped the bomb shell that he would have likely been picked for All-Stars in previous years, but we told them not to pick him because we just couldn't do the traveling. Uh, he was a little flabbergasted to say the least. We were assured that there would only be about 4 tournaments this year and they would all be in surrounding counties, with the district tournament being hosted here. We decided to let Jacob have this opportunity and I think he will love it! I fondly remember my days of playing All-Stars and hope the same for him.
Here's a picture of my All-Star this morning before his first practice!
Sorry folks, but it looks like the baseball pictures will keep on coming. Ha! Not to mention, now there is talk of starting fall league baseball here in the county and Jacob is ready to sign up for that too! :)
