Last Day of School ~ 2012

School was out earlier this year than I can EVER remember it being...we only had one snow day, and with the way the schedule was built, the kids didn't have to make that up, so they got out on time with May 11th being the last day.  If we had moved Matthew through grades without keeping him at the 5/6 Center, he would have finished his 8th grade year.  Yes, seeing the kids he started school with go to the 8th grade dance and 8th grade graduation might have stung just a smidge; not because Matthew would have cared, but it is just yet one more little thing I will miss out on with him.  But, we know that keeping him in the classroom where he was is exactly what was best for him, and we are just thrilled that a way was made that he will get to be there for one more year.

May 11th also happened to be Jacob's LAST DAY AT KYROCK!!  Wow, elementary just didn't last long enough.  In honor of his last days as a Blackhawk, Jacob wore a different school shirt each day.

Matthew was excited for it to be the last day of school.  :)

 One thing that we are really excited about for next year, is that these two boys will be in the same school!

 I have always tried to take a picture on the last day of the boys leaving school...this was the last time he walked out as a student here...

We have held a tradition for the past several years that we go out to eat at Cracker Barrel on the last day of school.  However, the night before the last day of school, Matthew was asking so sweetly to go to Cracker Barrel, that we gave in and went a day early.  :)

We are really hoping to enjoy this extended summer break!  It is a little more difficult since I have to help out up at Creekside AND keep Matthew occupied, but we will manage.  Ha, there have been a few days so far that I've mentioned summer school! ;)
